Q: What's
black and white and green
all over...?
A: Comfort-Zone Low Dust Cellulose Insulation
If you know the facts you’ll choose Comfort-Zone cellulose
insulation for your attic and wall insulation package.
Here’s why Comfort-Zone is best for your home.
1.
Highest R Value per inch
Higher than fiberglass or Rockwool. But there’s more.
Recent testing
at the Oakridge National Testing Institute has proven that due to
convection fiberglass can loose up to 50% of it r-value in cold
weather! Comfort-Zone retains its high r-value.
2. Air Infiltration
Comfort-Zone suppresses air infiltration better than other types of
insulation. Why? 1st, Comfort-Zone is 2 to 3 times denser
than
fiberglass. The greater mass effectively blocks air movement
better.
2nd, Comfort-Zone completely fills in around wood framing members,
plumbing, electrical wiring and other obstacles giving you a much
tighter seal than possible with batts. Recent tests at the
University
of Colorado proved it. A home insulated entirely with cellulose
(including wall cavities) sprayed insulation used up to 38% less energy
than an identical home insulated with fiberglass batts.

3.
Fire Safety
Comfort-Zone is U.L. labeled and meets all federal and state standards
for cellulose insulation. Because of its permanent fire retardant
treatment Comfort-Zone has been shown to actually slow the spread of
fire when compared to fiberglass.
4. Non Toxic
Because Comfort-Zone is made from natural noncarcinogenic wood fibers
there are none of the health concerns associated with fiberglass and
Rockwool.
5. Sound Control
Nothing works better than Comfort-Zone to stop sound transmission
through walls and ceilings. Combining Comfort-Zone superior
density and void free wall insulation package, allows for superior STC
ratings not possible with fiberglass.
Sound Transmission Guide
Sound transmission class (STC) is computed in accordance
with ASTM E-90 and E-413 and is taken from industry data.
STC
Rating Speech heard through floor or wall
30........................Loud speech understood fairly well
35........................Loud speech audible but intelligible
42..........................Loud speech audible as a murmur
45...........................Some loud speech barely audible
48...................Hearing strained to notice loud speech
50........................................Loud speech not audible

STC
Rating Construction Detail
42....................2x4 wood stud on 16” centers, single layer
½” gypsum both sides, ½”
Comfort-Zone
insulation.
50....................2x4 wood stud on 16” centers, ½” resilient
channel one side on
24” centers, ½” gypsum both sides, 3 ½” Comfort-Zone
insulation.
50....................2x4 staggered wood stud on 16” centers, 2x6
bottom plate, 5/8"
gypsum both sides, 5 ½” Comfort-Zone insulation.
50....................3” steel channel stud on 24” centers, ½”
gypsum on both sides, 3"
Comfort-Zone insulation.
Notes
1) Each later of 5/8” gypsum offers
about 1db greater STC than ½” gypsum.
2) There can be approximately 3db variability
in STC attributed to the test method.
3) The STC of studs on 24” centers is
approximately 3db greater than 16” centers.
6. Low Dust
With over 20 years of experience in manufacturing, Comfort-Zone has
evolved into the cleanest blowing cellulose on the market. Every
bag contains special dust inhibitors formulated to produce superior low
dust cellulose insulation. You won’t believe how clean the new
generation of Comfort-Zone insulation blows!
7. Resistant to insects,
rodents and mold
The same boron based chemicals used to give Comfort-Zone its fire
retardancy are also natural fungicides to make Comfort-Zone highly
resistant to insects and rodents.
8. Environmentally Friendly
Comfort-Zone contains no asbestos, glass or mineral fibers.
Comfort-Zone is make from 100% recycled newspaper and other paper
products, which is nature’s way of insulation. When you buy
Comfort-Zone cellulose you’re helping to close the recycling loop.
